Phil 4:13

by Charles Reid on 05/01/10

As you look at this picture what do you see?

I see Peter looking to Christ for HELP which is the shortest and most used prayer that we can use in the Christian walk. I can say that it is a prayer that I have used a lot. It is not a hard prayer to remember. But it is a prayer that I am sure that Jesus hers a lot of times. As a shepherd of the flock he sees a lot of sheep wandering of, not minding the danger all around, not recalling the warnings of the shepherd as he tries to keep his sheep at arms length. David would guard his sheep and protect them, just as Jesus protects us. But we must listen to what he says to us, if we do not listen to Him, we will put ourselves in danger, just as Peter did. Peter said if it is you Lord, bid me come walk on the water to you. Jesus said only one word COME. What did the Lord say in that one word. I believe He said fix your eyes on me as a beacon/light house, in where you are going, then I will strengthen you and keep you above all the problems that would come your way in life. But like us sometimes we let the problems, the storms of life, take our eyes of the Lord and we drift of in to danger. Peter drifted of his intended destination, and he started to sink into the problems of life. But praise be to God Jesus the great shepherd herd his cry, his prayer for HELP and he reached down just in time (as He always does) to save him. I believe when Jesus hand touched Peters hand, that His supernatural strength and power started to flow from Jesus, the Word of God into Peter and then again he was walking on the water. I believe that they then turned to the boat hand in hand (the Word of Faith, now in his heart) and started walking back to the boat. I wander what they talked about on the way back to the boat, the weather perhaps? I do not know but I am sure that Peter had learned another lesson that only the Lord could teach him. Phillipians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

As Winston Churchill once said Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, give up.

Hyper Parents & Coddled Kids

by Charles Reid on 03/10/10

I just watched this documentary. What are we doing to our kid's any more, we need to let them have room to grow and learn. One  lady paid 1200 dollars for her childs birthday party, one year old. Another girl had five high paying jobs in a 4 year period one of which was $90,000 a year, she left that also. She was in debt $86,000 and then applied for bankruptcy at 28 years old. WOW.

You can find it at http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Shows/Doc_Zone/ID=1405930535

Puppets in Prison

by Charles Reid on 03/09/10

I remember one time we were asked to take our puppet team into a prison in Ontario. People said there is no way you will be received by the inmates. Well we did take the puppets in the prison and they were a big success.

We made up a puppet play with a prison chaplin and the inmates working out in a gym in the prison, we used some mike stands to clank together behinde the screen to make the sound of weights being lifted up and down. So dont let any one tell you cant take them in a prison. Think outside the box when you work with puppets.

God Bless

INTRODUCTION to Solo Puppeteering by Karl Bastian

by Charles Reid on 03/08/10

Karl is a good friend of mine and I would highly recomend you visit his web site, http://www.kidology.org/ I hope you enjoy this article from his blog.

My first experience performing with a solo puppet was as a child. My Mom taught the Council Time in our Awana Club. She noticed my interest in puppets (or perhaps gave it to me) and encouraged me to do one every week to make announcements in Awana. Our Awana Commander's name was Jerry Hinkle, so I named my puppet Harry Jinkle. The puppet was a big guy with one human arm. I had so much fun doing him... and here I am today, still doing puppets every Sunday, and teaching others how to do the same. My Mom is now with the Lord, but because of her investment in me, and belief that I didn't need to "grow up" before I could minister to kids, is really one of the secrets to my success as a Kid's Pastor. If you have kids in your ministry (or family) who demonstrate gifts for ministry - don't let them just watch - or wait until they 'grow up' - get them serving and leading now before they lose interest. Who knows, someday, after you have graduated to glory, they may still be carrying on your work!

TOMI In the beginning

by Charles Reid on 03/05/10

Well here goes puppets have been a big part of my life, and I am hoping it is part of yours also, I have made a lot of mistakes in the past and hope to pass on some ways to avoid making the same. When I first started doing puppets I could not find much help from any one on where to go to even get good puppets made. But as you can see from our web site we have the best of the best puppet makers. If you have any questions please just ask our friends here at TOMI and we would be glad to help out. Have a great  day. Phil 4:13
